The Foolish Heart

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, “There is no God!”

If we live our lives and ignore God’s laws and His will, are we any better than a person who says, “There is no God?” If we believe, but live like He doesn’t exist by refusing to acknowledge Him and as though there’s no repercussions for our waywardness – in essence, we are saying, “I believe there’s a God, but I CHOOSE to ignore Him, His Word, and His will for my life!”

How can anyone say, “I believe in God” and defy His Word? We may confess that we believe in God and His Son, repeat the sinner’s prayer, and think that we’ve completed all requirements for Heaven. BUT, if we truly believed, we could not continue to live in sin – anyone who has the Spirit of God cannot be comfortable with their sin!

1 John 3:8-9   He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

So obviously, anyone who does this does not have the Spirit of God living in them, and no matter how much they confess their belief in God (but continue in sin), there is no REAL heart conversion.

Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

If a person knowingly lives in sin – the bottom line is, they either do not truly believe in God – OR – they have a false belief that they can live anyway they want to and go to Heaven because they’ve prayed the sinner’s prayer at some point in their lives. Simply saying the words does not mean that they MEANT them or that they TRULY believed and TRUSTED Jesus as Savior. And the devil has deceived them into thinking that God is a loving God and will not allow anyone to go to eternal damnation. He certainly IS a good God, but He’s given us the truth of His Word and that truth will stand forever, no matter what WE feel or reason in our own hearts. His Word is the absolute Truth and our feelings, our opinions, and our views really do not matter.  It is our responsibility to seek the truth of His Word and to follow His instructions for Eternal life.

God will never accept our sin no matter how much He loves us. He’s given us His precious Word to live by and if we reject the teachings of His Holy Word, we are rejecting HIM! If you are not using His Word as a road map for this life, Satan will lead you astray.

We cannot accept God’s love and reject His teachings. It is NOT His will for anyone to perish; that’s why He gave His own Son, Jesus, to die for us. Many people believe that fact, but they have not let that truth change their lives. It’s not enough just to believe in Him…after all, Satan believes in God. True repentance means believing in what Jesus did for you on the cross, trusting Him as your Savior and then living by His Word. Please don’t let Satan deceive you – only those who follow the Word of God will be saved.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. (Notice… these people prayed.)

I invite you to pray the sinner’s prayer:

A Simple Sinner’s Prayer

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now, I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. In Jesus’ name…Amen.

It is imperative to begin to read and study the Word to find out how to let Jesus truly be LORD in your life. Our walk with God is an ongoing daily journey with Jesus. That wonderful journey begins each morning when we get out of bed. We are called to seek Him and His will for our lives each day. Unless we are actively walking with Him and using His Road Map, the Bible, we will take wrong turns and soon become lost in our way; for it is not within man to choose his own way.

Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Can you say that you are allowing God to lead you in all your decisions and even your thoughts? Rom. 8:14 says that only those who do this are the sons of God.

God created us to walk with Him; isn’t that a beautiful reality – the God of Heaven and Earth desires to walk with you each day…just as He came down in the Garden of Eden to walk with Adam and Eve. That is, until they chose their own way instead of His! Will you choose to walk God’s path? Will you trust Him today to lead you into a better life than you could ever choose for yourself? Truly, all He wants is your happiness, but when WE try to decide our own path to happiness, it’s fleeting and unsustainable. When we take His hand and choose His ways, only then contentment comes; for true joy is provided ONLY through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

All you have to do is “Come and follow Him today”!

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

It is not hard, but it does require seeking Him in His Word and in prayer every day of our journey. What a beautiful journey it is when the Lord Who created us and knows us best takes our hand and teaches how to enjoy the life He’s prepared especially for each one of us.

“GOD BLESS YOU!”
