12 Days of HOPE 4 Youth: Day 1
Homeless youth in our community have come to count on HOPE 4 Youth and we are here for them each and every day because we are able to count on people like you. This holiday season, you have supported HOPE 4 Youth in many different ways – giving monetary gifts, bringing in in-kind donations, hosting Holiday fundraisers, and going Out in the Cold 4 Youth – so for the next 12 days we are going to share with you how the lives of the youth who walk through our doors have been changed because they have been able to count on you! Today we kick-off our 12 Days of HOPE 4 Youth, 12 days of success stories of some of our youth.
On the first day of Christmas, HOPE 4 Youth helped Jocelyn obtain an ID by assisting her with filling out the necessary paperwork and providing her with the resources to purchase it. Having an ID is something many of us take for granted, but homeless youth often come to us without one. Take a minute and think about how necessary having an ID is. Without an ID Jocelyn was not able to apply for a job – one of the first steps to no longer being homeless. After obtaining her ID, and with the help of her HOPE 4 Youth Case Manager and Jenilee from the Workforce Center, she was able to find a job. Even though she is now working, she continues to meet with a Case Manager regularly at our Drop-In Center to work on independent living skills and accesses the resources she needs so she can find stable, long-term housing and get further on her pathway to success. Jocelyn thanks you and so do we!
